Welcome
Hi Readers!
This magazine gives a peek into some of the great times
we’ve recently shared together, and shows the actionpacked programme we have for you to enjoy this summer
— including a seaside outing, BSL tour of Lord’s Cricket
Ground and our Deaf Families Fun Day at the Park on
Sunday 13 July 2025.
As JDAtogether is now read far beyond our Deaf
community, we’ve introduced as a new, regular feature
— A Message from Trudy Kling, Chair of JDA.
We want everyone to see what we already know — that
Trudy is the strength behind all we do.
Thanks to Rose Ayling-Ellis, our Wednesday Club
members featured beautifully in her BBC1 TV
programme Old Hands, New Tricks. JDA is described as
“a vibrant, thriving Deaf community where Deaf people
can communicate with everyone and feel valued,
respected and included.” We couldn’t agree more!
It’s not all good news… Deaf people are being targeted
online by criminals. You may think you’ve met the perfect
partner online, but they could be using a fake identity to
get you to trust them and give them money. Please don’t
miss SignHealth’s talk about Grooming on Tuesday
10 June — it might prevent you becoming a victim.
All Deaf BSL users are welcome at our fantastic
Wednesday outings — and at all our talks — now
both Tuesdays and Wednesdays! Check out the
programme, come along and see how much fun it is!
Keep well and keep smiling!
