I’ve Never Had So Much Fun In a Chair!
Stella Seymour writes:
When I heard Rebecca Zelic and Jacob Labrosse
were preparing Chair Sports Day for us, I was very
curious to know what they had in mind! Brinthan
said maybe we would have to sit and hold an egg
on a spoon!
Then came the fun part — which was puzzling
at 昀椀rst! We split into two rows and Rebecca and
Jacob unrolled long trails of paper in front of us.
We had to put our feet on the nearest bit of paper,
then… on your marks, get set… go! We dragged
the paper back towards us as fast as we could with
our feet! Gideon Kotzen and David Solomon were
very quick and won the game.
The next game was chair basketball. We had to
throw small balls into baskets. Most of us missed,
but David Bacon scored — and Gideon again!
Jacob tried to motivate me by saying if I score,
he will take me out on a date. Sadly, I failed.
The handsome man still gave me a nice hug!
Rebecca told us about her life and career. She is a
physiotherapist and works for the NHS. She also
is part of Brinthan’s Deaf football team and has
worked with the Scottish and Welsh Deaf teams.
When Rebecca was 17, she was a runner. In 2013,
she represented Great Britain in the Dea昀氀ympics
in So昀椀a, Bulgaria.
The last game was
Sticky Hat. We had to
pick up balls and stick
them on our sticky hat,
without letting them fall
o昀昀. Miriam and David
Solomon won. Brenda
also did very well and
enjoyed the game very much. It was a brilliant day
— something new and di昀昀erent!
Rebecca explained that it is very important for
us to exercise and look after ourselves, to keep
healthy and feel good.
A huge thank you to Rebecca and Jacob for giving
us such a memorable afternoon. We can’t wait till
your next visit in the summer!
